If you see a menu item you don't know how to pronounce, do you ask for help?

I know how to pronounce everything, always, so it's not a problem.

Who cares? I say it my way.

I point, but won't say the word out loud.

I order, but won't say the word, (I'll have the, uh, chicken dish...)

I say it my way and then ask if that was right.

I ask the server or a companion. Knowledge is power.

I never eat anywhere that has unfamiliar words.

I'll skip the dish, rather than ask.

it is silly not to try something new and possibly wonderful because you do not know how to say it. laugh at yourself and have a sense of fun and adventure. the wait person will probably have a good chuckle too and you will have a good time. i've had marvelous meals in thailand, italy, portugal, france, laos and really had no idea
what i was ordering.
