"Advanced Imaging Technology" is a euphemism created to make people think they are getting "scanned." No one is getting "scanned" -- they are getting strip searched.
The fundamental privacy issue is whether our government has the right to make strip searches routine and mandatory.
There is no question that these machines violate the 4th Amendment.
There are also health issues. Researchers are already coming out saying that the machines aren't safe and could cause cancer.

HELP PUT A STOP TO THE TYRANNY!
Mia Mantri - 14 years ago
I'm an openly pre-operative transsexual but feel it is a violation having my transsexuality flashed up on a screen. People say if you don't like it don't fly but I have family in India I haven't seen in 12 years and can't fly now because I feel too afraid to travel while there's a chance I could be forced into a machine like this. Also, what about rape/abuse victims? I feel there are some groups of people who have not been taken into account. I have genuine difficulty going through a scanner and all I want to do is see my family and pay my respects to relatives who have died.
This machines are a disgusting invasion of privacy, and it is unacceptable that you are given a retaliatory pat down (include groping ones testicals or vagina) if you opt out of being irradiated & stripsearched.
