We are trying hard to save as much as we can so we can foot the entire bill for their undergraduate work. We will however, be clear about expenses and how much things cost us. When I was in school, I had NO clue, zero, as to how much my parents were doling out to cover expenses, tuition, books, entertainment, etc. So we want to be sure to clue our kids in from the start as to the cost of things. IF the kids want to have a summer job, then we may have them use those dollars for their "entertainment" and they would have to make it last to an agreed upon date (depending on how much they make). That being said, I will certainly not make my kiddos go a year without fun because they want to spend the summer in a foreign country or on a mission trip somewhere where they would NOT make any money. All of that comes out to we will try to cover their expenses as much as we can while including and educating them in the process. Sorry for the long response, it got us thinking about it again!
