Do mothers and babies benefit most when mothers return to work (say at 6 months)?

I would like to say to all mothers out there: you're doing the best you can so well done you!!

I feel that the hardest thing as a mom is to know who you are, and live accordingly. So much of you changes when you become a mom. Your work identity may or may not take a back seat. But whatever you choose to do (whether to go back to work or not), make sure it makes you and the baby happy. Because the best mom is a happy one, but also one who puts the baby's needs on at least an equal level to her own. That's my view!

Personally, I'd be really happy to be a stay-at-home mother but I need to earn some money too so although I've been at home the last 11 months I'm going to find some work to do from home after she turns one. That's the way I've decided to balance things so that we are all happy. Fingers crossed it'll work out!

And to those who have to work but don't really want to: I feel for you. Hang in there! Do the best you can! If you're happy with the care your baby's getting while you're away from them, then you're not doing anything wrong in my view!

Looking forward to reading the other comments :)
