Yes, freedom of press is threatened in Odisha. Every now and then news about attack on media persons by ruling party members, unsocial elements with ruling party link and the police hit the headlines. At the moment, public agitations are going on as a minister personally threatened the media persons for publication of his name in connection with gang rape of a dalit girl that has forced her into coma. So, though the people of Odisha are with the Press, persons in power are against freedom of Press.

i now strongly feel that the media persons are under threat of gove and police...considering the case of sri bikash swain,he was arrested like a criminal from the middle of the road without any investigation.....this is not a proper way to treat a able citizen of india and a true son of orissa who unlike to other citizen fearlessly publishing all the dark truth of govt and the unexpected activities that the orissa govt is doing in his daily newspaper suryaprava...the media persons are always targeted.the right of media persons need to be protected...
