What is your favorite part of 'Cross season
That you only have to wait a week to race next weekend to try and make up for the dismal performance this week
That it's easy to make an excuse for not going fast because you're recovering from the race the day before
Jumping onto your bike-seat at a full run and getting a real thrill from risking one's virility every three minutes.
Mud
That someone will inevitably have funny photos to post online from the race last weekend which can distract you from making progress on your PhD for at least another 20 minutes
That there is no such thing as drinking too much beer after a 'cross race
That your brakes often don't work and it's just par for the course
Knowing that winter is almost here and soon we'll be skiing
That soon after the race starts everyone is so strung out that most people can't tell the front of the pack from the back of the pack and think you're doing really well despite being way off the pace
Getting the feeling that you are going to puke without actually dealing with the inconvenience of being sick
Having a long summer of base training and reaping the rewards of all that fitness without having to train much
