I am a player who takes over 5 hours. I don't deliberately play slowly but I am just a novice and it takes me (and my equally novice playing partners) a tad longer to work out which club and which shot to play. We do let faster moving groups through. although this does add to our total time.

Faster, lower handicapped players should remember one thing - we all have to start somewhere and if new players get put off by feeling pressure from behind, they will leave the game.

Some people just take the mick on how long they take on a shot. I play golf with my mates and we are no tiger woods but enjoy a game of golf all the same, we avrage an andicap of 22 but get around the course fine so it's anoying when you get course members in front of you who think they own the place throwing grass in the air like they are pros and most of them play worst golf than my mother. Those are the type of players who don't let you play through but would soon have something say if you were holding them up. It's like you said it's a fine line between playing at a reasonable pace and holdind people up, and that line is so far up those members rear ends they can't see no wrong in taking too much time and holding people up. I'm still yet to play a round of golf free of jacked up members.( There are probabley some nice members out I'm just stuggling find some)
