If you are someone worth calling 'friend,' you must be able tell him/her the truth about his/her behavior while still showing love for that person. It's ludicrous to assume that people who misbehave or make mistakes shouldn't deserve the same friendship we every-day 'normal' folk enjoy. The fact is that Gibson's media exposure comes only because he is famous. But we all know how many of us non-famous folk mess up our own lives. And we get away with it completely because we don't have a camera and a microphone shoved into our private lives. While not at all condoning his behavior, I feel badly for him because he is being scolded by a public who could stand to be scolded by the masses for our OWN indiscretions. I say cut him some slack. After all, he's not a terrorist... he's just an actor, for goodness sake.

Jodie Foster is right in sticking by Mel, but I also agree with the people who think that Mel Gibson went through a mid life meltdown crisis, complete with leaving a lovely family, whom the press always had kind things to say about. What is it with men who have these meltdowns of the moment that makes them completely want to rearrange their lives even if it involves getting involved with someone of such low moral character as this Russian gold digger, who may or may not have used, Timothy Dalton in the same fashion. And whereas even after Mel decided to leave Robyn and the boys, she still stuck up for him and said he never hit her or went into one of his rages even knowing that if she did it would just make her that much more rich. She is a class act. On the other hand, it sure seems strange that Timothy Dalton has not stepped forth with anything good to say about his former Russian paramour and baby carrier.

I believe there are two sides to every story, and I also believe a woman can be a phony, disgusting, gold digger, and drive a man to almost beyond the brink of insanity. That being said.. I also believe any man who leaves his wife of many happy years as we were led to believe Mel, and is ex-wife had for a "sweet young thing" just to feed his ego deserves what he got!!!
There is something to be said for not thinking with your" little brain" in this kind of a situation.....Men...for heavens sakes...get a grip.
