Joanne is right. FDR was a great President because he put people to work. He gave them purpose, respect and dignity. We have over a milliion people in jails today, and what's the call from the right wing: MORE JAILS.

Folks, more jails is a band-aid, it does not solve crime/violence. Never has. Never will.

I work (PCA) for an elderly gentlemen (92 years old) said just this morning, the greatest president, in his eyes....
"What Roosevelt did was to get people working in the woods, cleaning them up, they then built camps for their stay and got a small pay, it helped to get people off the streets during a recetion or depression. People need to work to feel good about there accomplishments.

Hard labor is what society is lacking...according to the elderly man.

None of these are actually going to solve anything. The problem is much more difficult and it is to teach respect for human life. Good luck with that one.
