What is the worst flaw a supposedly "nice" restaurant can exhibit?

Bad service has been my experience at every Ruth's Chris restaurant I have ever been to...Jacksonville, New York, Toronto. I will not be trying another one and it's so sad since the food is good

Once at a Crab house in Somers Point, NJ (which btw has over a 2 hour wait DAILY) me and my girlfriend came to have some appetizers and dessert and watch the live band, we were told we could have a bar booth to be able to see the band, and the waitress kept "making jokes" that we were hogging her dinner table just eating appetizers followed by a laugh and a "im just kidding" We felt like our money wasn't good enough for her. I think she got a 36 cent tip that night. and we sat and ordered waters for 2 hours more just out of spite.

Wait staff who come up toward the end of the meal, look down at your plate, and say, "Are you still working on that?" It makes me feel like someone is observing me ripping apart wild game in the woods with my teeth. It doesn't matter where you go - USA, Canada, France, Spain, Italy, Greece - it's always the same, sometimes with variations: "Are you still working?" The worst one was "Want to work some more?" Yeah, and bring me some dental floss while you're at it.

The restaurant keeps changing the menu! My favorite items no longer on the menu! How can a Lobster restaurant not have Lobster Bisque???

My biggest beef is with the wait persons who end a statement with OK?, as in "I will put your drink order in, OK?"

How is poor food quality not a choice?

To be seated at the window only to find flies in the window and dead flies on the sill is bad enough, (that should have been a clue) but to discover bugs in the salad is worse. The server was called to the table to complain and their response was it was good protein. We immediately requested the managers presents. Two minutes passed without a sight of the manager. We promptly left. This was at a three star restaruant in Seattle, Washington.

once on an exteded road trip 3 couples asked for seperate checks (all wanted to use credit card). Waiter in a very rude manner informed us tha twas not possible - "against house policy." I went in serch of the manager who informed me that was not an unreasonable request and siad they we would do whatever was needed for us. In addition i had us served by another, much more congenial waiter. I worked in a service industry all my life and know there are times when you need to do what you need to do to serve the public - as long as it is not immoral or illegal.

Nothing more disgusting than have a waiter / waitress describing special or taking your order and you cannot focus on what is said because of a tongue piercing that causes a lisp in their speech. Disgusting!!!! I usually ask for another waiter. I cannot believe that resturant managment allows staff that is in contact with the public to have any kind of piercings on their face. Earrings are one thing lip rings are another.

I'm the executive chef at two restaurants, and I realy can't believe that "poor quality food" isn't even one of the choices on this poll. REALLY?? no one cares about quality tasty food any nore?

One experience we had at a steakhouse: my husband ordered prime rib but it turned out they were out of it. Rather than immediately telling him this someone just decided rib eye was good enough. Imagine his surprise and chargin when the steak was served to him instead of the anticipated prime rib. When I called the manager to the table he offered to cook the steak of his choice, which my husband declined since everyone else at our table had already been served and he didn't want to be eating by himself and make everyone else wait on him. I fussed with the manager insisting we shouldn't be charged for the steak to which he would not concede. I was so upset I was shaking and told the manager we would never return and I would also tell such to my friends. Before we left he did concede and not charge us for my husband's meal but by then it was too late to redeem his reputation.

just had my comments judged as spam. hmm... interesting. you speak the truth and it's considered spam. sorry u missed my rant. rather funny in a the thruth hurts way. ur loss...

  • When speaking with the waiter-person and requesting something/anything different and the waiter-person respons. "No problem..." - I am often tempted to inquire, "That's interesting, what would happen if there WERE a problem?"
