TOM WELLING is the best for the role of SUPERMAN. He is so charming like Cristopher Reeve who plays the role earlier. I watched all the superman movies before but the last one didnt have impact on me.

For 10 years I have watched Smallville on TV, and watching this TV show has made me a believer of superheros. Smallville and all of its characters made new viewers who never watched Superman, ... believers of Superheros. New viewers of superman, is from the comics that has come to life on screen for renew belief of superheros and make it real. Tom Welling has done just that. The show has brought Superman Pals to the show. Green Arrow, Supergirl, The Flash, Martian Manhunter, Cyborg, Aquaman , Blue Beetle and others. This show, starring Tom Welling was the first of its kind, talking about the heros show, no other Superhero Show has made it to TV in the this century.

I want it to be Tom Welling.But its gonna complicate things up...I am a huge fan of him. I just thought he should be given a chance.Acting wise, he can get to attend the workshops like what Routh did when he got the role.Haveing said this, Tom can actually make it to the big screen, although I don't think he likes to be continually typecasted as Superman on TV or big screen. If Tom is out of the picture, I think acting wise, John Hamm has the depth,, and so does Jim Caviezel - these two are middle aged actors whic coincide with Snyder's requirements.

I've grown accustomed to Tom Welling as Clark Kent and it would be natural to progress into him playing Superman. I also think Erica Durance should continue on as Lois. If the powers that be had any sense they would go with the Smallville cast. I know many think cause Smallville's audience is smaller than the typical superhero audience that it might not work as a movie, but a lot of the problems of the last three movies would be avoided with Smallville's cast. No origin story needed. No need to rehash stupid real estate stuff (especially in our economy!). Smallville has been a more mature take on the Superman mythology than anything of the last three movies. To me, after Christopher Reeve, Tom Welling IS Superman. The one sure way to get me to see this in the theater is casting him as Supes. Anything less would be a let-down for me. Routh did OK in Returns but I think part of my hesitance with his performance came from thinking Welling should have been in the role. Later I also realized I just wasn't crazy about the cast and story overall. The one bright spot for me was Spacey and they ruined him with the stupid wig stuff. I prefer a Lex like Smallville in which Michael Rosenbaum has played the best Lex ever and that's not easy to say with Hackman and Spacey.

About Zod. I'm not going to be one of those lame fanboy liars who says I won't see the movie now. Of course I'll see it. It's Superman! But I got to admit I was more excited when Brainiac was the rumored villain. Brainiac would look very very cool on screen. If they must have a villain that looked human, Brainiac could do that. He is a shapeshifter. If they needed to tie the villain into Superman's origins, Brainiac could do that too. In the cartoon, he was responsible for Krypton's explosion. There is nothing that Zod adds to the movie that couldn't also be done by Brainiac.
Like I said, I'm no fanboy whiner and I'll still see the movie with Zod and even enjoy it. Wish it was Brainiac though.

Personally, I don't think Jon Hamm is too old and he would be my pick. But I completely understand why most people pick Welling instead. He is the safe pick for them. Ppl know him as "Young Superman" and it is just logical for the uniformed that Young Superman should play Superman in the movie. They don't think about things like continuity and stuff. I try to explain it sometimes to my mom and others, but the non-nerds don't get it. Superman is Superman to them. Cartoon, tv, movie. It's all the same to them. They just say "well he is doing a good job and looks like Superman so he should keep doing it". Mom is so aggrivating.

I love how the losers always cry "It doesn't mean anything unless our guy wins!" LOL. For the last 8 years Welling has always won every poll, petition, and survey, usually by huge numbers. Superman fans love him, no matter how much they don't like Smallville. He was genius casting. The public knows him as this generation's Superman, so they always vote for him. It's common sense. LOL.

That is so true. It isnt serious superman fans or even general superman fams voting on this poll. The SV/Wellingites are spamming the poll, thinking it actual means anything if you congregate a group of like minded people to a poll others are completely ignoring. Welling will never play Superman in a live action film, we don't even know if he will wear the suit on the little tv show on the friggin WB. If he wears it, they most likely won't even refer to him as Superman. It is quite possible that will never happen in any medium. Welling doesn't have the acting ability, and his voice sounds like a teenager even pushing mid 30's. Time to open up yourselves to a new choice. The new choice will easily be better than Welling, and likely better than Routh too. Don't limit yourself to an actor when the character is ultimately the most important. Many SV fans will get pissed that he doesn't get cast or looked at even again. That is the wrong attitude and says you aren't a Superman fan, instead just a fan of a guy who plays Clark Kent on a tv show.

I want Tom Welling as much as you guys want him to play Superman!! But let's be honest and let's all face the truth that they won't select him, because since so far as I've ever heard, seen or experienced on movies, I know deep in my heart that they want a new face or just the different actor who they like or see to play this role. But we never know so I'm still on Tom's side and support him on this though journey, I hope that they will cast him. He's the only one from these actors who I can see as Superman, not that I have something against those other actors of course, they are great actors but they just do not fit in this role. Tom Welling all the way and hip hip hurray to Smallville which I like the most in this world!!! ;-)

As a realistic human being, I look at all of the pros and cons and as much that I can the facts, I feel very strongly that Tom Welling is by far and above the best choice. I also feel that casting him would gain the movie hype and fandom almost immediately.
I will state here in the onset that I am not trying to be rude or disrespectful to any of the other actors in the list but I would like to politely be honest, and that being said I will elaborate a little bit on my opinion.
I think that the first and most obvious conclusion is that to me, and I would be willing to bet most anyone who does not know any of these actors is being entirely honest and true will admit that out of all of the faces in the poll that Tom resembles the comic version the closest, and has the right eyes for the role. I am not female so I honestly cant say but I also think that he has the right face that if they play a line in the movie to the extent of, "oh Superman is so cute......," by some female, that welling gives the most believability to that statement. I would like to also say that out of all of the men listed in the poll he has the best current and potential physique: his posture ( straight back, chest out and shoulders back not slouched ), chest (Pecs), and lats ( muscles of the back that create the V shape that everyone sub psychologically associates as well built mans physique ) are in my opinion currently the best, but I will say that he should be just a hair more lean ( only a few body fat percentage (2-5%) , and develop the lats just a little bit more, this is what will create a very well built look, I think the definition created by leanness is important because the public wants a Superman that they will occasionally see with his shirt of throughout the movie and you say wow that is a great six pack and good definition, because in tights you cannot see a six pack (contrary to comic book illustrations), but again the lats are very important to creating the V shape, its what gives the well built and solid look even with clothes on. I feel Welling has the right twinkle/ sparkle in his eye to portray the character. Lastly as far as looks, Welling's natural skin tone and naturally blueish hazelish eyes lend better and naturally to the traditional bright blue and bright red coloring of Superman, or what you would call warm colors, were as Routh ( again, not being rude ) had naturally brown eyes that require CGI to be blue, and Routh's natural skin tone is more pale thus requiring more of a colder tone of red and blue ( which ended up being more burgundy ), also politely I think that Routh's chin and face are not square enough as I would like, at some angles to me he looks a little baby face, again I am not trying to be rude to anyone, just merely stating my opinion. Also I like the glasses and the non bumbling / idiot Clark of Smallville, I like the way that the glasses don't look dorky. I don't like Kent being portrayed as an idiot, I want a quite reserved madly in love with Lois respectable Clark Kent!
The next thing is the acting capabilities and personality. I as a fan of Smallville will admit that in only a handful (about 3-4 times ) I was not always 100 % happy on Toms acting, but I would say that he has matured past that significantly, and in the last few seasons I have not really seen anything that I didn't like. I like the way that Tom is some what of a quite guy and a little bit reserved, because I want a Superman that is down to business, but is not bland, politely I do feel that Routh was a bit bland, and I feel that Welling has just the right natural demeanor, not uber ADHD-ish outspokenness, but not stoic and wooden.
To conclude I will state that there may be an unknown or even a known that I don't know of that might be better, but as listed and from my knowledge of known actors I say Welling hands down ( as does the pole from the looks of it).

Lastly as far as looks, Welling's natural skin tone and naturally blueish hazelish eyes lend better and naturally to the traditional bright blue and bright red coloring of Superman, or what you would call warm colors, were as Routh ( again, not being rude ) had naturally brown eyes that require CGI to be blue, and Routh's natural skin tone is more pale thus requiring more of a colder tone of red and blue ( which ended up being more burgundy ), also politely I think that Routh's chin and face are not square enough as I would like, at some angles to me he looks a little baby face, again I am not trying to be rude to anyone, just merely stating my opinion. Also I like the glasses and the non bumbling / idiot Clark of Smallville, I like the way that the glasses don't look dorky. I don't like Kent being portrayed as an idiot, I want a quite reserved madly in love with Lois respectable Clark Kent!
The next thing is the acting capabilities and personality. I as a fan of Smallville will admit that in only a handful (about 3-4 times ) I was not always 100 % happy on Toms acting, but I would say that he has matured past that significantly, and in the last few seasons I have not really seen anything that I didn't like. I like the way that Tom is some what of a quite guy and a little bit reserved, because I want a Superman that is down to business, but is not bland, politely I do feel that Routh was a bit bland, and I feel that Welling has just the right natural demeanor, not uber ADHD-ish outspokenness, but not stoic and wooden.
To conclude I will state that there may be an unknown or even a known that I don't know of that might be better, but as listed and from my knowledge of known actors I say Welling hands down ( as does the pole from the looks of it).
in fact welling is the best of all, and when he is in the outfit .wow guys it will be a new era. look at the way he acts . really Tom deserves this roll. he is just Mr super fantastic. kal-el all the way
Brandon Routh has gotten a lot better since the first film. He was excellent in Chuck - strong, funny and hot.
He is such a good actor. He not only looks amazing, but he can play the part. He"s not just a face,but he can play any situation.
Tom Welling deserves this roll. He is superman through and through. Rough is a close second cause of his resemblance to Reeve. But in the end it's got to be Welling!
After 10 Seasons, I think it's about time Tom Welling wear those famous outfit. He'll be fabulous and people are already familiar with him.
