What do you think of unisex facilities?

    This ignores the statistics that show women are far more likely to be assaulted or raped in unisex changing rooms / bathrooms. Many women and girls would not feel safe using a unisex facility when there aren't many people around. It also overlooks the need women have for single sex handwashing facilities for non-handwashing-related activities, e.g. rinsing blood out of a skirt or cleaning a menstrual cup. There is also a far greater risk to women of voyeurs, hidden cameras etc, and ignores the fact that many people feel that unisex facilities are an invasion of their privacy and dignity. This is especially significant for women who may be menstruating or going through a miscarriage in public.

    I believe unisex cubicles are good idea, provided issues of security/privacy can be addressed. But urinals offer the most cost effective, water efficient and quick solution to the majority of men (or shewee carriers?) who need to spend a penny. So freeing up facilities for those who prefer to sit down...
