Ok now right now if it were me all I would use was one of the 12 words of death. anyone who read the series would agree with me because, one, murtagh has help from the eldarundi, and two, he is one of the best magician in eragons world, in the whole realm of books in my opinion. if it were murtagh AND eragon then sorry darth vader but.... YOU TOAST!!!! Darth vader wouldn't last more than two seconds in that field because it takes like one second to do one word of death so COME ON PEOPLE!!!!! He was already toast when just murtagh was on the scene so GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD BYYYYYYYYE Darth Vader!

Agreed with most everyone that Murtag should have won this battle or it atleast should have had more blood shed. Everyone who has read the Inheritance cycle knows that 1) Thorn may be a confuzed dragon but even Murtag knows better than to let his dragon attack someone who has the ablity to slice through their armor scales just about everything but their heart of hearts. 2) Murtag would have erected wards against fire 3) the other hearts that he (Murtag) poseses hold enough magic to repair Thorn's wounds. 4) all it would take is removing Darth Vader's head to end this whole stupid thing to begin with... AND HIS HEAD ISNT EVEN REALLY ATTACHED!!!
this was obviously was written by a baist star wars fan. mertagh would win all the way because he has almost unlimited amount of power from his connection with Galbetorix. i do think it would be harder to kill D.V than most of you give him credit for he dose have the Jedi skill of mind altering (common "these are not the droids you are looking for") so obviously the Jedi have some control over their own mind and the minds of susceptible people around them. i believe this might make it more difficult for mertage to break into his mind make him kill himself. Anyway murtagh would win all the way because he has his faithful dragon beside him.

yeah man darth vader couldn't stand a chance. even if he could summon the dead. i mean is could of used the dragon as a distraction then uttered a death word or 2. burst a artery in the brain kills pple very quickly
Note murtagah could also easily have broken into darths mind and made him kill himself as its not something the jedi learn (mind protection)

great story but sorry Darth Vader didn't stand a chance Murtagh didn't even fight and only had to utter a word of death to snap the vein in Darth Vader's neck. It would have been a 2 second encounter without Murtagh ever needing to get off Thorn's back before flying away with Darth Vader dead on the ground below. still the story was good, but wasn't logical there is no hero from any movie or book i've yet read about that can defeat one of the dragonriders from Mr. Paolini's books. Hands up to Eragon
I agree with all the above people and murtagh would be able to kill vader easily plus he may know how to suck the energy out of other things in this case vader and then destroy the body with it's own energy

I agree that murtagh could have killed vader with a simple spell. a quick word of death and that would have ended the fight. I mean, its not like vader has any wards to protect him from spells. and, murtagh would have healed thorn the instant he had the chance, not rushed vader like an idiot. clearly, who ever made this prediction and story have close to no idea what they're talking about. It's murtagh and thorn all the way baby.
12 words of death? even if vader immediatley started choking him he wouldnt even need to speak the ancient language to use one of the spells. a little less dramatic but thats the world paolini created
