Were supermarket vegetables better when you were young?

I agree that this poll is flawed, but it would be interesting to see answers broken down as to whether the respondent was living in an urban or a rural environment. I grew up in the country, and almost all we had was fresh stuff, and it was definitely better than this "picked green, shipped in" stuff we have now. And the peaches of my childhood ... well ... there is absolutely no comparison to those tasteless objects in stores now.

Here is an example of some of the poorest journalism ever; the poll question has nothing to do with the possible answers. None of the choices are an answer. LOL! What is worse, everyone should know that veggies in the 1950s and 60s had approx 50% more nutrition, minerals, vitamins than present ones. Faster production equals decreased nutrients. Stop being stupid and use your brain.

I'm confused, you ask if they were better when we were younger, yet not one of your many options actually includes THAT answer. None of them even SUGGEST that vegetables used to be better (as I think they were, because they traveled less and were fresher and not picked under-ripe).

So why have the pol at alll, and why that title, if that's not even a possible answer?

I grew up eating canned veggies primarily and always thought they were mushy and bland. As an adult, cooking for myself I discovered how delicious and crisp fresh and frozen veggies could be. My daughter is now three and her favorite thing to eat is frozen organic green beans that have just been thawed under running water. I love that she already has an appreciation, instead of hatred, for vegetables. :-)
