Eastern NC BBQ. There's some other kind?

I'm with the Eastern NC BBQ people... it's not enough to say NC BBQ because that could be one of two things.. one of which is good (Eastern NC vinegar based chopped pork) and one is not so much....

Im from the Piedmont region of NC..Lexington BBQ is my favorite. Also, around here you dont call it "pulled pork" it's called chopped or coarse chopped or sliced.. Burns me up to hear someone say..NC pulled pork!! Drives me insane...

Nuevo-South. A tad bit healthier versions of the originals seasoned with influences from one's back home cooking style. Or look at it as all your favorites from growing up- Southernified!

I have only been to the south once but I grew up with country cooking as my family was from Oklahoma and had come there from Kentucky. We ate black eyed peas, cornbread, fried okra, boiled pinto beans with salt pork and fried chicken. My dad and my grandfather got the "schreech" gravy which was made by pouring a little black coffee into the frying pan with the grease from frying a steak. They dipped their bread in it. So good for the heart!!

Born and raised in NC and I LOVE Eastern Style BBQ. I have traveled all over the US with my Air Force husband and still nothing beats NC BBQ!

Most people who take this poll probably don't know the difference between creole and cajun food.

Memphis or KC barbeque is the closest thing to my favorite which is barbequed pork steaks, St. Louis style. I lived in North Carolina for six long years where they call minced pork drenched in vinegar barbeque. Give me real smoke flavor and a good thick basting sauce. Slaw, baked beans and homemade potato salad make it perfect.

Real bbq (pork) not Texas "bbq beef". Reall Memphis pork with a big ol' helpin' of slaw right on top

Memphis BBQ is by far the best. Nothing beats the pulled pork from Tops or the dry ribs from the Rendezvous!!

Eastern ("Down East") NC barbeque. Can't beat the vinegary spice of it!

Don't want to be a fat man, don't have the patience to ignore all that.
I can't say that southern food tempts me at all, Tex-Mex is NOt southern food ( hence t he MEX part).
It seems to me that most southern cooking requires deep fry and some form of lard or bacon, not that appatizing to me.

Being from South Carolina I love Barbeque and soul food :) I like the traditional North Carolina BBQ. Nothing like some good ole grits for breakfast.
