  I've tried a few but have always came back to using Gmail's web client. It does everything I need.

  Prefer Evolution but it's Google Calendar support is broken. Kontact IMAP support to GMail is broken.

  There are several great contenders too, like Zimbra or eMail (or something like that dont remember the exact name)

  Also you have Mulberry wich is still under development but the latest version is overly cute.

  i used the opera imap client for a long LONG time. just recently switched to using the browser.
  definite toss-up between the two. i never liked the way evolution worked and thunderbird never caught my eye. claws mail could be a good contender, surprised that not so many people use it...

  Mauybe someone at Canonical should take a look at this poll. As of now
  Thunderbird is considerably more popular than Evolution.

  gmail for me. If my computer dies it has no effect on my mail. I can access mail in the same form from any connected computer and also my android phone. Syncs contacts to my phone, even when I get a new phone.

  I used Thunderbird for years, but it's just easier to use gmail across all the computers I use - it's always the same and I love Priority Inbox!

  What about opera? It's IMAP client is really rather good.
