Do you believe WikiLeaks is a terrorist group?

There is a critical and urgent need for development of multiple innovative non-mainstream news sources- whether or not we agree or disagree with their particular motives, political policies or appreciate their stories. Mainstream news sources all overtly controlled by “the corporatocracy” and through their lobbyists so is our government.

The public must avail itself of every opportunity to keep itself informed
. If we allow our government to label as "terrorist" all news and information that exposes acts which may make their foreign policy less popular we give permission to their agenda to control our opinions through only allowing "permissible news." This is dangerous to our freeedom. Journalism is about disseminating truth- so free thinking people can develop opinions based on all the facts.
When those who share what should be public information U.S. Army Pfc. Bradley Manning- are charged with terrorism - which carries a possibility of life imprisonment or a death penalty- the level of threat to free journalism so similar to the Spanish Inquisition - both dangerous and insidious!
There is also a critical and urgent need to educate and inform the public for the purpose of inspiring a popular movement to actively facilitate resistance to a deeply disturbing trend toward elimination of individual civil and constitutional rights so recently enacted by our government. On November 30, 2011, sixty-one senators authorized an indefinite suspension of the Habeus Corpus. On December 16th 2011; A new “anti-terrorism” bill, was enacted that allows any official entity representing the Presidential office to direct the military to arrest any U.S. citizen or non-citizens alike by making a ( no evidence required) claim that someone suspects that individual of being a “terrorist” or even associated with “terrorist” aka anyone engaging in what is perceived to be “anti-government interests.” In accordance with the new law the individual who is suspected may be arrested without bringing charges and without a requirement to provide incriminating evidence. All that is required to arrest and hold any individual indefinitely without charge or trial is a suspected association with “terrorist” aka “anti-government interests.” These are precisely the type “enemy of the state” laws used in Nazi Germany that allowed genocide.

It has become clear that Americans can no longer trust our elected officials (regardless of their party affiliation) to maintain our Bill of Rights or Constitutional Self-Government and we urgently need to institute damage control.

No, I believe Fox News is a terrorist organization.

  • FauxNews - 13 years ago

What an absolutely weasely set of choices. Or are Fox also troublemakers when they report news?

("If there wasn't all these dirty secrets and reckless behavior by the US government then ...." (refer to the whole reply posted by Peter on November 29th 2010, 7:39pm.) I agree in the general comment by Peter. All these Chicago type lies and maniputations and distortions of the truth that have occurred since Obama and the rest of his administration have committed, I want to read a random section (selection to be by me personally) to see what these secrets are. As of today, Nov, 30th 2010, I have not seen more than (2) of these secrets out of 250,000++ secrets. Remember Hillary has a comparable reputation for dishonesty and deceit, i.e. "I'm sorry; I don't recall.", "I'm sorry; I don't recall." etc. in response to questions she had to answered during the investigations of her stock market manipulations. Her husband is the same with, "I'll tell you only once! I did not have sex with that woman, Miss Lewinsky."

I don't trust any other country in this world - zippo countries. That includes the United States. I knew the idiots from this administrationi - the Obama administration - were eventually going to shoot themselves in the feet. The motto of the Community Organizers is "We are liers and we do lie frequently". Let's see that list of deceits in this matter. No doubt there will be deceits punishable by near death punishment. How dispicable is the behavior that our federal politicians have fallen to. END

If there wasnt all these dirty secrets and reckless behavour by the US government then there wouldnt be anything bad to release now would there? Is Julian a terrorist? If letting the world know of all the dirty secrets and dodgy doings of the US gov is terrorism then I guess it is but somehow I dont think the release was ment as an act of evil. I herd from plenty of very overly patriotic American kids whining on about how hes an evil terrorist who must be stopped tortured and killed but to me that just sounds like the insane ramblings of some very delusional right wingers. Bill Oriely must be going bezerkadrill right about now. The funny thing is the only thing Julian has done is bring out all the bad stuff the US governments done that theyve managed to hide from the world up until now. To me that makes him a bloody legend.

    Wake up people!!
Of course it is equal to terrorism, get your heads out of the sand.
There will be people killed because of this insane action.
I only hope this idiot will suddenly disappear, ( it can happen fairly easily.

  • Our Government keeps too many secrets - 13 years ago

Besides. It's more embarrassing to the Liberals, since they're in charge. Maybe I wouldn't feel so charitable toward Wiki Leaks if they'd embarrassed a conservative government.

  • Our Government keeps too many secrets - 13 years ago

Terrorists? Hardly. I'd sooner call them heroes. Our government avoids far too much accountability simply by slapping a classified sticker on anything that might be even slightly embarrassing. Watch how fast Washington moves to punish Wiki Leaks for embarrassing them! Too bad they can't put so much effort into protecting their citizens from the invasion of illegal immigrants on our southern borders.

Patrick's views are naive and lack any understanding of history. Assange is a self appointed narcissist who believes his world view is the only view. I'll leave it to the lawyers to determine if he is a criminal in addition. On the other hand, Sweden will likely have a say on him being a rapist.

  • patrick - 13 years ago

Not hardly terrorists. None of the documents leaked were even classified as top secret. They only seem to be classified in the sense of having a classification. Regardless.. it makes me very bitter that the justification is that the US needs to hold secrets of it's affairs overseas from it's own people in the name of creating and fostering democratic and open/transparent gov'ts by being secretive and having our fingers in everyone elses' pie. Maybe this is why people around the world can build up such hatred for us as to justify blowing themselves up/flying planes into buildings and such. Maybe if we just minded our own business more and didn't set up/overthrow/help overthrow/work with "bad" people to deal with people we view as "worse" we wouldn't be in this predicament.

    Operation Cyclone.

Criminals, yes. Terrorists, I doubt. But if this were a sane world they would have been eliminated, not prosecuted a long time ago.
