Do You Agree With Raising the Retirement Age to Save Social Security?

It is time to seriously think about revamping the whole system. Allow private companies to run social security in a way that will bring profit. This can happen if the monies are invested to earn interest and allow the fund to grow leaving enough funds to pay future retirees. It will also keep the congress from using the funds as their piggy bank.

I believe the Social Security age should be raised by a couple years for the 100 per cent benefit as long as folks are left with an out by being able to receive the 75 per cent benefit at age 62.

We paid our entire working lives into Social Security. We deserve it when we reach the current retirement age. We would have plenty of money there for that reason if our government officials were competent enough to do their jobs efficiently. We have to or we'd be fired. Let them work in factories, warehouses and do hard work all their lives instead of having the cushy jobs they do and they wouldn't be so quick to raise the retirement age. It's easy to talk the talk when you don't have to walk the walk. Quit robbing Social Security to give to other programs that they lack in because of governmental tax waste, illegal alien support and pocket lining. They spend 342 million dollars a day on a political unwinnable war. Our soldiers put their life on the line and are killed, suffer mental, physical, and emotional traumas as well. All in the premise of protecting the United States from terrorism? Really? Our military goes through all that and at the same time they let them walk across the border into the United States. What an oxiidiot ( that's two grades lower than an oxymoron). Our government would rather do that to our country than to profile. According to them, the worst offense in the world is to profile a people that needs to be profiled. If Americans were always the main people that would commit terrorism throughout the world, and I went to another country and was profiled because I was an American, I would understand that and not be offended. We need leaders with some intestinal fortitude supported by a vertebrae to stand up for the American people. Let Congress have the same medical plans, social security plans, strip away a lot of their expenses paid for by us and drop their salary, don't let them retire after one term in office, make the State and National Supreme Court Justices have to run for re-election every two years instead of being appointed for life and you will see much better policies and judgments for America coming from Washington D.C. Basically quit being a bunch of stinking filthy no good for nothing rotten crooks and start doing what's right for America. You don't hear much about when a soldier dies, but when a politician does it's a big deal. Send the politicians to war and see how fast they want to get into it. From the Vietnam War until now, I have yet to see any of Congress's family on the battlefield. I'm sure if they look hard enough they can make it look like they had one or two maybe since the Vietnam War. People war is ok as long as it's your kids that dies and not theirs, think about it. Quit wasting money and they wouldn't have to steal from our Social Security.

My husband is 61 and out of work. He is not obese. Due to our economy at this time, and his age (oh yes there
is age discrimination!), he has been unable to find work. He lost his job due to our economy and loss of customers.
He may not be working past the age of 61, but he can't collect s.s. until he is 66.

Society is getting more obese causing more earlier illnesses thereby causing people to be less to be able to work to a later age. Surely makes sense to me.
