I would like to see voluntary and commercial organisations come together and brainstorm some ideas, to promote our great city, that would be accessable for everyone regardless of financial position or abilities.

We have an amazing history, and an impressive future to look forward to. There are some great men and women of God (The Wesley's for example, George Muller) that have done some incredible things in this supurb area, but we must reach our full potential to see Bristol reach it's full potential - we and it are one in the same.

Lets get party politics out of Bristol's future and give the people that matter, the people of Bristol, a bigger say. Business's investing their money, residents and visitors investing their time and skills.

Focus on the positives and ignore the negatives.

What about a year round US-style 'Bristol Flea' - outdoor vintage/retro/jumble/yard sale in a central location - a cross between the huge Shepton Mallet Antiques Fair and an upmarket boot sale?

St. Nicks needs to have some kind of pre-qualifying of tenants, so that instead of 1980s style bargain tat, it becomes a centre for independent stores - a bit like the very successful North Laine area of Brighton (not to be confused with The Lanes antiques area of Brighton) or Spitalfields in London. As each lease expired or when tenants moved out, new tenants would have to 'qualify' to get a permanent pitch. Borough Market in London is another great example of how to redevelop a site like St. Nicks.

As it is currently, St. Nicks is a fabulous space that is under developed and not nearly interesting enough to draw people in.

Quick comment on the market/food hall thing - I could see how this could go, and would seriously approve. St Nicks needs someone to have confidence in it - they have some great food shops/stalls/cafes there already, but it seems half-ignored, not really living up to its potential.
