Should you post a forecast product directly to Twitter and Facebook, or link to a platform you control (such as the station website).

The answer is both. Social media is about quick bits of info without all the grit. Add the link to the bits so people who want the grit can do so ...

And a big thumbs down to polldaddy for pulling out the paragraph breaks I put into my previous comments.

I think I was the person that prompted this question. You posted this to Twitter "New DM post. http://post.ly/1CZ4q" The link took us to your Posterous blog, and the entry was just "New DM post" for a title, and "http://bit.ly/aYuqlO" as the body. That link took us to your "Training" entry on Digital Meteorologist.

A link on Twitter right to your Digital Meteorologist posting would have been better, in this case.

I voted in this poll for 'Post information directly without a link', but I would change that if I could, now that I've thought more about the poll quesiton. One's own platform is the place to put your original material. Other places (Twitter, especially) may not give you the detail you need.

What you should not do is put a link to a link to the information. I hope that makes sense.
