I'm using endpoint FWIW, Recently talking with Craig I referenced agent as in an SMTP agent of a MIB in an NMS of an OSS or a billing agent in a provisioning engine. It seems to me that more and more "Agent Terminology" is also being thrown around in basic cloud computing for aspects like user self provisioning etc.. Thus the term from data comm or infrastructure congers up a specific meaning making the double edge more confusing.
