Should California allow gun owners to 'open carry'?

Anthony, we have known you for years from the first time you knocked on our door seeking our vote for city council. We were even backing you even though you are a democrat and we are republican. However when it comes to the 2nd amendment we cannot make that change. The 1st and 2nd amendments are just too near and dear. We will defend them and the Constitution to the bitter end. We want to make one very important point here, people kill people, not guns. You just cannot legislate away all of the elements that can kill. The next thing you know, we will outlaw baseball bats, and rocks or stones over a certain size. We should just never take away a person's right to defend themselves. Additionally, as was related to you we have no faith in the 911 system. As you know, Bill fell off of a ladder in the backyard onto a concrete patio and was not conscious and we called 911 twice and it was busy. Imagine if it had been someone threatening us with a gun, the line still would have been busy and we probably would have been shot. Finally when he came around and we determined he was able to walk, we made our own way to the hospital where he ended up with 17 staples in his head. Our idea is that we first equip and staff the 911 centers so people can get help, and feel comfortable, when they need it then we can talk about taking away people's 2nd amendment rights. At any rate we do not support your amendment.
