I collect those 'collections' cookbooks - I call them my tried and trues. Sold a bunch of them at a yard sale...just couldn't keep 400 of them anymore. I always try one or two out of the books, then use them as guidelines and make up my own versions. Then those versions go in MY collection cookbook that I print and share with my family every 3 or 4 years. Especially those new brides...

I enjoyed this article. It brought back memories of older people I have known throughout the years and learned so much from them. All a person needs to do is ask and they tell you all you need and want to know. They can be so informative and interesting because they have been through good times and hard times usually more then once.

Older people's estate auctions and yard sales often times have interesting and useful recipes, especially ones that have instructions for "a handful of this and a pinch of that" and some mention tossing a little salt over their right shoulder (I think it's the right) for "good luck". (Smile.)

I type the ingredients I have on hand into the search engine, proceeded by the work "recipe" and see what comes up - found some great recipes that are now in my menu rotation!
