Oh, how I would have loved to vote the first choice! Reading your blog, though, it sounds like you need to listen to your body more than destroy it. If there had been a choice that said --- Go for it! Listen to your body, start slow, don't sweat the time, and run because you love it--- that is the choice I would have made.
Winter training is hard out there! I'm running almost every day, and cross-country skiing and snowshoeing on the days I don't run. Cross-training is a great way to prepare your body. Just three runs a week--- a tempo or speed run, a long run, and a fun run, mixed on your off days with strength, core, and alternate cardio should work to get you flying with the pigs!
