How do you feel about the Death Penalty?

I feel if one innocent person is put to death by the state it far out weighs any deterrent that the death penalty has. It has been indicated by the state that the cost to the state (tax payers)of putting someone to death is much higher than the cost of life in prison. I am in favor of life in prison with no parole, with no benifits given to the incarcerated individual. How many times do we hear of a prisoner on death row having their sentence over turned due to new evidence coming to light. The justice system is as good as we can make it, but it is imperfect at best. When the death penalty is enforced there are no do overs, no take backs. Having said all of that I know that there are people that commit terrible crimes that probably deserve that ultimate penalty, but one has to ask themselves what if we were wrong. I feel that if you keep that terrible person in jail and make their life a living hell every day for the rest of their life justice can be served.
