Altho I opt for fish oil supplements, I really enjoy a wild salmon fillet and use flax seeds quite often. As for the flax, is it necessary to grind the seeds or are they digested whole? The whole seeds seem to work quite well as compared to psyllium husk, but if the omega-3 oils aren't released in the digestive process, they're just lost 'down the drain'. Not so?

I use ground flaxseed in my homemade bread, take a flaxseed supplement and have salmon 2 times a week. I have food allergy issues and havent been able to find a salmon oil supplement that is "just" salmon, they are mixed oils.

I use chia seeds, ground in a coffee/spice grinder and kept in the refrigerator.
