Who do you think has a better approach to the role of government and taxes?

Dan Malloy is ultimately going to be judged by what his overall plan does to address the state budget deficit. His plan is to raise taxes and "ask" the state unions for concessions. If the unions will only agree to token givebacks, the budget deficit will increase. If the tax increases do drive businesses and jobs out of the state, tax revenues will fall and the budget deficit will increase. Chris Christie's plan in New Jersey -- no tax increases, drastic spending cuts, and demanding concessions from unions -- has had success. Until Malloy's plan is implemented and we can all see what the results are, he should just shut up and do his job.

As a Connecticut resident, I listened in disbelief as Governor Malloy advocated that his plan "takes a Connecticut path" and than proceeded to try and spin why our state is ranked number 47 amongst states with the worst tax burden because so many residents own vacation houses in Ct or other states and that distorted the results. What a complete lark. I for one will seriously consider the offer from Governor Christie who is thankfully not alone in recognizing the madness of raising any tax, much less across the board as in Ct to underwrite a bloated state government and failed policies.
