I have been around the wireless industry since 1985 when I worked as a contractor helping Ericsson roll out AMPS (Analog) service in Detroit and the surrounding areas. I have worked for wireless vendors over the years as well as wireless carriers. The Wireless World is always changing with new Technologies and advances. I have known of T-Mobile way back to the Voicestream and Western Wireless days. I know that T-Mobile is the Walmart of the wireless world. Good pricing, good plans, family friendly with an awesome 4G Network rollout and Upgrades (HSPA +). There are 2 greedy villians as I see it here: DT(Parent of T-Mobile) and AT&T.
When DT bought Voicestream years ago, I wondered about the staying power of DT in the US market. Now I know, they were looking to bail after finally building a 3G to 4G system that was worthy of the Sales folks selling proudly. AT&T (Southwestern Bell and Bellsouth in the beginning before Cingular - Union Workforce on the Wireline Side and now on the Wireless Side) who rightly got hammered after the IPhone rollout due to their network at that time not having enough capacity - does not want to quickly build new capacity into their network for their 4G rollout-but wants to buy a similar (GSM) network and use it as a springboard to 4G to stay up with Verizon's 4G LTE rollout. I hope the Regulators do their job and do not rubber stamp this proposed sale right away. AT&T will not match T-Mobile's pocketbook friendly plans for Individuals or Families. I am a person who started out with with service from Commnet 2000 which changed to Airtouch which changed to Verizon Wireless. After Commnet 2000 I had service with US Cellular who swapped markets with Alltel who was purchased by Verizon Wireless. See, change is inevitable in the Wireless World for both Customers and Employees.
Some change is good, better pricing, plans and phones. Alot of change can be not so good for both Customers and Employees. I am an ex-Alltel customer on Verizon Wireless who is still using his Alltel phone and family members are still using their US Cellular phones. Our phones are not under contract with with Big Red...and the jury is out on who we will sign up with. I was leaning towards T-Mobile...but I am not crazy about AT&T ... or Sprint/Nextel...maybe a couple of metal cans and a real long spool of string...maybe...

Please, please tmobile dont do this. Att customer service is horrible plus they dont offer unlimited data, not too mention higher rate plans. Tmobile just won the J.D. Award for best customer service. Why oh why tmobile??? I really hope this deal doesn't go through. Att has too many users on their network which creates an overhaul, just imagine adding millions more customers. Its going to suck even more.

I am also an employee and I am perfectly content with the job i do. I do not leave my job daily with a guilty conscience, nor do i treat my customers with a sinister attitude when i answer my calls. My biggest question at this time........will they adopt OUR way of doing business at TM or will they force their unethical, demeaning, horrible way of doing business on us. I'm not even concerned with losing my job, I'm concerned with the fact that someone will try and mold us AWARD WINNING SERVICE REPS into robotic jerks.....at that time, i will skate out and have a party that i will not be a part of that!

    Please FCC - SAY NO!

We went with T-Mobile 6 years ago because of all the awards they win for their excellent customer service. We have not been disappointed - it has always been a pleasure to deal with them.

With AT&T in charge, that's all down the toilet. I will not be an AT&T customer and they will not get any of my money.

  • ASS nuggetz - 13 years ago

To be honest, the commercials are pointless, all they'll do is bring people to t-mo for a 2 year contract b4 they get grandfathered into AT&T anyway. If anything AT&T will be encouraging T-mo to continue the commercials considering they'll end up getting them anyway.

Are we getting fired ? I used to work for verizon and now for t-mo. I like the way the company treats us. But now I'm concern . I don't hear good things about Att, time to change career paths . .. Sucks

sprint sucks they are called the roaming network and att and t-mobile are going to be the best together because u will not have no more drop calls with att

  • tmofan - 13 years ago

Sad to see them get bought out. I've been with them since they were called voicestream. But I do admit the coverage was a little spotty and unreliable. With AT&T getting T-mobile towers and 95% of Americans getting LTE, that does sound impressive, really. I can't wait to see how the transition goes through...

I agree with JDee, they should keep playing the AT&T-smashing commercials. Haha :)

  • BigDogg - 13 years ago

This really sucks! I like T-Mobile just the way they are. I've had excellent customer service for over 7 years with T-Mobile. I've had both AT&T and Verizon before that, and they were both terrible. Prices will go through the roof, and there will be no more unlimited data plans. I'll be going to Sprint if this merger happens!

  • JDee - 13 years ago

If prices go up I'm going back to Verizon. I left Verizon for t-mo cause of price and t-mo still had good coverage. If prices stay the same, I may just stick around. After all ATT will now be the power house, they will have much better coverage now taking over t-mo's towers, and I will admit... I see potential. But they increase price or screw me over like they did 10 years ago, I'm out and will happily go back to Verizon. It will be fun to see how this transition takes place.

In the meantime... will t-mo continue to air the 4G commercials hammering ATT? Hope so.

i will never give money to at&t. ever. simple as that.

Unfortunately Tmobile customers are well and truly screwed no matter what happens. If this deal goes through then no one is predicting that things will get better for Tmobile customers and AT&T has a history of making things worse (eg look what they do to Android phones, customer service, pricing etc).

If the deal eventually fails to go through then we are still screwed because Tmobile will have been distracted for a year by this deal and so we'll have an even worse carrier with even more catching up to do.

  • Michael - 13 years ago

If this deal goes through them by the time my contract is up (November 2011), I'll be jumping to SimpleMobile wireless. Uses T-Mobiles 3G/4G network for half the cost ;)

    FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU ATT :P

  • DrNo - 13 years ago

ATT sucks big time service, network, attitude
    this goes through I'm gone

  • JayDubya - 13 years ago

I bailed on T-Mobile yesterday. Afterwards I was questioning whether I had made the right move, and then I found out about this. I'm happy as can be did I ditched when I did, because customer service is going to fly out the window, prices are going to go through the roof, and things are going to suck in general.

  • Dubya504 - 13 years ago

If AT&T get Tmobile, I'm doing business elsewhere! I hate Spy T&T!!
