The "welfare state" is a complete failure. We've tried to evade reality but reality will now be the judge and its judgement is we are bankrupt, the pyramid scheme has run its course, the status quo will end.

Thanks to the leadership of teachers unions and acquiescent school boards, the cost of public school primary education is now more than double that of a college education - including room and board! Enough! If unions want to exist let them try to collect their own dues on their dime. I also think it's time we banned educators from serving on school boards and relegate them to the position of advisors; their being voting members of a school board is a flagrant conflict of interest.

With only 23 votes the teabaggers are out in force. This is no burden for local SD's and a real slap in the face to workers in the Lehigh Valley who were primarily union a generation go. How quickly we forget.

Pennsylvania State Education Association dues, National Education Association dues or a teachers local association dues CANNOT be used for political lobbying. It's the law in PA. I am a retired teacher of 35+ years and any political action donations ALWAYS are made separately and voluntarily.
