In fact, let it stand for the record that George Lucas may very well be a good filmmaker (I will not argue that point), but is a terrible director (there's a difference). The best thing that could have happened to Star Wars is if he never directed any of them.

In answer to your question, however, Guillermo del Toro would make it fun enough and visual enough and bizarre enough. I'd actually throw in Alfonso Cuaron as a separate option, that man works straight-up magic with the camera.
