Joel is terrific. Chickie Baby would have loved him. Smart, knowledge, and a great play by play man. What a voice. What a dumb decision.

Eman Laerton hit the nail on the head. I couldn't agree with him more. Joel Meyer's perpetual glass-is-half-empty way of looking at things and his constant negativity make Lakers fans long for the glory years of Paul Sunderland in the broadcast booth. I knew it was bad when, given the option, I found myself choosing to watch a Laker game on ESPN, and having to endure Jeff Van Gundy, rather than deal with the bitterness that Joel brings to the table night in and night out on FSW and KCAL.

If Joel called baseball, he would inevitably find a way to find fault with a pitcher who just threw a perfect game.

If he called football, he would find a way to criticize a quarterback who just completed at game with a perfect QB rating.

The last thing I'm looking for in the broadcasting booth is a homer. But Joel is just a negative person. PLAIN AND SIMPLE. There is no room for his perma-frown in the Lakers organization. Thanks to the Buss family for finally seeing the light!

Now if we could just get rid of Charley Steiner and the McCourt family, my year would be complete!

Rarely can matters of taste be boiled down to science. But, in this case, the question of Joel Meyers play-by-play perspective can be proven empirically.

Joel Meyers is a bitter man trapped in the 1950s. His game calling is one of constant panic. Remember, this is the man who coined, "The lead is down to 28." His bullying criticism of Kwame Brown and Sasha was petty and just plain dickish. His pet phrase "too easy" as in "too easy a look" insinuates that players don't try.

Sometimes folks get open in the NBA, Joel. A lead of 28 should be a time of enjoyment for Laker fans, not panic. And lamenting a missed lay-up on the previous possession with commentary that "you'll never get an easier look than that one" has shown Joel Meyers to be un-So Cal, un-Lakers, and depressing-as-all-hell to listen to.

Bye, Joel. I won't miss you, but my TV might, knowing the sound must now be functional for Laker games.

Some thing is way off here. Meyers has been great and Dedes sounds like a robot.

Joel Meyers is a gentleman all the way, and meshes very well with Stu. Our household would be sorry to see him go.

Meyers is too much of a homer. I remember listening to him on Spurs broadcasts and talking sh*t about the Lakers. Spero is level headed and tells it like it is. He is not afraid to criticize anybody on the team.
