I am already paying almost $4 now and the oil refineries always raise prices before Memorial Day. I wouldn't be surprised, if it goes to $6 by the end of the year. Food prices will be the next to go up and cost of materials. The only way this will ever change is we take the oil from Iraq for the $1.5 trillion we spent freeing them plus interest for medical cost of our soldiers that will have to live with their missing limbs for the rest of their lives. We have politicians in government that cater to big business and banks. We need to fire every one of them next year and have a fresh batch of people that lobbyists can't buy that quickly.

The rest of the developing world is aspiring to consume like Americans, so expect the need for energy to double and for the rubber to hit the road because everyone who can be is looking for the "good life". The argument I do not understand is why we should be energy independent if that simply means that we deplete our reserves faster and run out of economically producing wells before the rest of the world? This is arguing that US companies would charge lower prices if they had lower prices of production, but why sell for less than world rates if our customers have the money? Do you think that the surviving energy companies got strong by charging by charging less than market rate for energy. Production costs are lower elsewhere in the world; drill them dry first. We may have to pay a lot, but we will still have oil and they won't.

While the rest of the world pays much more than $5.00 a gallon how do we possibly think we won't be seeing $4.50 a gallon in 2011. Americans live in this fantasy world and think the rest of the world doesn't apply to us here in America.
First and foremost oil is fast becoming in short supply and will eventually be used up. Just look at China and India where middle classes are emerging at record speed. It is only natural they too will soon all be driving cars. Just look at new car sales in these two countries alone.
While they have an expanding middle class we in the West have a dwindling middle class.
We have now seen how disastrous nuclear energy can be and how storing vast tons of spent fuel rods is and will continue to cause serious problems because we have no safe place to store it. Tons and tons of very toxic radioactive waste keep multiplying like rabbits with no adequate storage facilities. So put into perspective nuclear energy is not a viable energy source.
Oil will always go the highest bidder and since China is growing so rapidly they will corner the market on oil in the long run. China is a creditor nation while we in the US are a debtor nation. We are in so much debt no one can wrap their head around the numbers. Currently we almost spend $500, 000, 000, 000 Billion on just interest payments a year and will soon be over 1 Trillion $ if we don't turn this disastrous situation around. We need to keep developing alternative sources of clean energy before oil runs out. This is and must be a long term goal to the solution on our addicition to oil.

Between the destruction of the dollar via widespread printing and electronic flooding of the monetary supply to pay for the phenomenal interest accumulation of the government debt bomb, and the related sovereign debt crisis that the U.S.A. will certainly go through starting this Summer, I would think anything under the price of $10 per gallon by the end of the year to be considered a bargain. There are simply no cards left to play that won't take years to develop, especially for a consuming nation as large as America. Should supplies get tight in the future, expect the armed forces and the vast government fleet to get serviced first, transportation next, and general population consumers last. We are already dying in the poluted morass of the aerial and ground waste products that an oil-based economy generates. Batteries have their own problems, such as usage of short supply metals and end-of - service life disposal. Start investing in bicycles because nothing will get cheaper.

Although I believe gas will go above $4.00, I am not so certain it will be above $4.50. However, all things considered, it probably should be much higher. When people talk as though drilling more or developing more alternatives will solve the problem, I wonder if they think beyond their own life spans. I read once of someone wondering what the Easter Islanders were thinking as they cut down the last tree. At some point, it all becomes unsustainable with more and more people pursuing less and less resources. It usually ends in war, famine and pestilence that wipes out a lot of the problem.

1. Close down the IRS and its thousands of pages of BS. Establish a flat tax like tithing that EVERYONE PAYS. NO FREE LOADERS

I have watched as the prices continue to escalate higher and higher with no end in sight. I feel that the rich oil owners are the only ones not suffering. Not to mention obama who doesn't pay for anything at this point. As long as we keep pumping the gas into our tanks and not cutting back on our driving the price will continue to rise. We have the oil refineries sitting idle here in the states that could be helping in more ways than one. How much more can the people of our great nation stand before somethimg gives? I make good money and can afford putting $80 every 2 weeks in my tank. There are others on limited income who can barely pay their bills let alone fill their tanks up to almost $4 a gallon. When do we say enough?!

We need to keep developing alternative sources of clean energy before oil runs out. This is and must be a long term goal to the solution on our addicition to oil.

As a Canadian in the heart of the oil drilling area we are already paying the equivicant
of $5.00 US a gallon anr rising so don't see you paying under $5 before this is over
Although I believe gas will go above $4.00, I am not so certain it will be above $4.50. However, all things considered, it probably should be much higher. When people talk as though drilling more or developing more alternatives will solve the problem, I wonder if they think beyond their own life spans. I read once of someone wondering what the Easter Islanders were thinking as they cut down the last tree. At some point, it all becomes unsustainable with more and more people pursuing less and less resources. It usually ends in war, famine and pestilence that wipes out a lot of the problem.
Very doubtfull any real progress will be made in our great country without these things being done:
1. Close down the IRS and its thousands of pages of BS. Establish a flat tax like tithing that EVERYONE PAYS. NO FREE LOADERS
2. TERM LIMITS FOR ALL POLITICIANS. TWO TERMS AND OUT MAX 8 YEARS.
3. NO FOREIGN AID TO ANYONE. WHEN YOU ARE BANKRUPT THERE IS NO MONEY TO GIVE AWAY!
4. ALL BILLS MUST ABIDE BY THE U.S. CONSTITUTION. BALANCED BUDGET AND LINE ITEM VETO A MUST! ADMENDMENTS NEEDED.

I have watched as the prices continue to escalate higher and higher with no end in sight. I feel that the rich oil owners are the only ones not suffering. Not to mention obama who doesn't pay for anything at this point. As long as we keep pumping the gas into our tanks and not cutting back on our driving the price will continue to rise. We have the oil refineries sitting idle here in the states that could be helping in more ways than one. How much more can the people of our great nation stand before somethimg gives? I make good money and can afford putting $80 every 2 weeks in my tank. There are others on limited income who can barely pay their bills let alone fill their tanks up to almost $4 a gallon. When do we say enough?!
We need to drill more inside our own border to be self sustaining, then we can name our own price for oil and screw OPEC. This will also create jobs. The elected man serving in the office of president doesn't want our economy to thrive!
