In Jr/Sr year if they are making good choices (like they already eat healthy) l I wouldn't as they are almost adults BUT Obesity is a number one killer and in the US 30% of kids under 12 are seriously obese soooo with that said if your kid has Any issues with food and they are a pre teen/young teen please give them limits. It should be abuse to allow your child to eat themselves into diabetes and any fruity person out there who discourages parents from teaching their children how to eat healthy is really in denial. They are STILL kids its YOUR job to parent them and foster healthy habits! There are a small percent of kids that are biologically inclined to make healthy choices the rest of us are still built for eating homemade healthy meals and 1 snack a day (like humans did for 100s of years). We cannot handle the temptation of fastfood and processed manufactured foods so you need to help them. With that said telling them no 100% is not going to help either. Stike a balance, let them spend a portion of their money on snacks OR to control it better tell them No allowance on food and You give them $3-5/a week to buy a special treat (candy bar etc) at lunch or the gasstaion.
