It's no secret that Turkey is pregnant with corruption and this is no different when it comes to elections. Being in a relationship with a Turk, I have seen first-hand how political parties pay people for their vote. The unfortunate truth is that Turkey is still a male dominated society where most women are second class. In fairness though, I believe this is partly cultural. Although Turkey has made many strides since the dawn of the Republic, customs toward women in many areas are still the same as pre Kemal Ataturk. As for the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender communities, they have no hope. Prejudice towards these people is rife and is encouraged by the religous right. I welcome Turkey's application to the EU, but not before it adopts a more european centric view and approach with regards to human rights and this includes the rights of LGBT people as well as a shift in how women are viewed - this, however, may take a couple of generations.

It's surprising to see different vote results here. In Turkey we always see based on AKP's third victory with 48% or 50%. But here are only 24% for AKP. I hope the results here would be happen on June 12.
