After the Game 1 loss, how confident are you in the Lakers' ability to repeat?

Yay! Lakers suck and Bulls rule!

Derrick Rose is BIW! Rose shoots better than Ray Allen, plays better defense than prime Gary Payton, passes better than Magic Johnson, and rebounds better than Dennis Rodman.

Yay! I like to randomly post on Laker blogs to proclaim my love for the Bulls!

It must be a very difficult thing to gear yourself up for a three-peat. To manufacture the inspiration to achieve a goal already reached not once, but twice in a row. Some athletes don't seem to need to find it- they're born with it. Luckily for us, one of those athletes is named Kobe Bryant. But some of his teammates apparently weren't. There have been times this season when this particular unit has looked like the best Laker team Phil Jackson has had the opportunity to coach: at the beginning of the season, and again after the All-Star break. But the short term memory is a funny thing on the morning after an unusual game one playoff loss to the seven seeded Hornets, backed by an end-of-season slump, and divided by witnessing several younger, seemingly hungrier NBA units crashing the playoffs this weekend like Mr. T at Rocky's press conference. At a time like this the short term memory suggests to the worried Laker fan that perhaps it's time to abandon ship because inspiration, seemingly, has been lost. But before we do that, let's not forget, we've been here before. And fortunately for us, the Laker brass chose not to trade away any of the players responsible for those moments of dominance, the team is still coached by a man commonly referred to as "The Zenmaster" and last I checked, it's still captained by a finisher so deadly someone decided to call him "The Black Mamba". If I hadn't seen those moments this season, I'd be worried. And hell, I still am a little. But Pau Gasol does this every year - gets pushed around for a game or two until he gets angry. Lamar Odom waits for Kobe and Pau to get going and then feasts on the mismatch he gets handed as a result, and then the bench mob gets rolling and this team becomes simply unstoppable. And for an added bonus, somebody got to Andrew Bynum this season and convinced him to become a dominant defender and rebounder. As for Ron Artest I'll just say this: when the Lakers were staring a Game 7 NBA finals loss directly in the face last season, he was the one guy on that squad who kept his composure, so I'll believe he'll be there for us when the time is right. Derek Fisher likes to say that every championship team has to find it's own way, and this team is no different. And to find your way, you first have to lose it. So facing the Hornets was the best thing that could have happened to this squad because they ran into a team that's rolling on that mysterious ether known as "inspiration". And now that they've had a whiff, the league should beware.
