Don't know if I'd keep reading it or not, but if you don't, you might consider letting the author know why. Yeah, you might get flamed for it, but a lot of authors, including me, would like to know what didn't work in their book.
Maybe give it two or three more chapters. You'd hate to stop just before everything got explained, wouldn't you? ;-)
There are SO many good books out there, why waste time on a bad one? We're already strapped for time as it is...Sometimes I wish we didn't have to sleep...I'd be reading and writing even more!
Although I do understand how you feel-the need to finish what you begin... you could always tell yourself that you will read the rest of this book another day... :)
