I thought the same thing as you guys. I was like "how on earth am I supposed to choose between those?" I pretty much loved all of Cookie's Idol performances (yes, even "Innocent"), but these two were definitely among the absolute best. Not only the best of Cookie's performances, but best of all performances on the Idol stage throughout the entire course of the show. I really can't choose between them.

Merry, I was about to say the very same thing. I do really love these two performances. The emotion on both nights was through the roof.

TWIK is finally my favorite Idol performance of all time. The pure beauty of his voice. The hot pink tie, black vest & slicked back hair. The bravery of doing that song when all the power of TPTB was against him. You had to listen to it carefully more than once or twice to get all the genius packed into it. I don't know how many times I've listened to it . Tears and chills.

That said, I wish he would have released ABMB right after Idol and through the tour. It would have been number one through the summer and he would have been forgiven by his rock fans when DCTR came out. That album is much much better than the 1.4 million copies sold & 2 million downloads. Good numbers, but he never broke through to radio as he should have.

I love AI and have watched all 10 seasons. I generally like most of the contestants. But David Cook's performances belong on a whole different plane.

This was like choosing between your first or second born child. In my opinion, these were two of the very best songs on the Idol stage.
