Do you buy lottery tickets? Do you drink the purple elixir of delusion? The odds of Fairley being anything like, or near the calibre of Suh, one in a billion.

Did you forget going into the draft last year that scouts everywhere thought Suh and McCoy were similar and some even thought Suh was number two DT?

Suh was a "walk -off grand slam" quality pick. Fairley can't be.

Now if Schwartz, Mayhew and Lewand produce another "walk-off Grand Salami" this year with Fairley we can really start thinking there is some kind of magic goin on in the "D"

The D-line is now two deep with NFL starters......they will be as fresh as daisies in the fourth quarter and that is where the game is won or lost. I would not want to be an NFL quarterback on opening day of quarterback hunting season in the "D".....

who do you double Suh or Fairley the Lions D -line will make the whole team better.

Auburn's secondary was suspect this year as well, but because Fairley was so dominant, they were able to get pressure with the front 4...that bailed out the secondary alot.

Fairley and Suh are going to be DANGEROUS on that D-line. I'm excited about watching them!

    Great pick by the Lions!

Excellent pick! These men are going to put fear in the hearts of opposing offenses. The defensive line will improve the secondary, improve the team overall and improve our chances of snagging Free Agents. Great move! KVB, SUH and Fairley? Y'all in trouble!!!!

When the Lions called to tell him they picked him he looked like he just bit into a lemon. Well some of us felt the same way about him taking the slot of a needed player.

Beefing up D line makes backfield much better. Still have many needs to fill and picking 12th in 2nd rd may not find a top talent in need position. All OL are gone. Cannon may not get drafted due to health risk (non hodgkins lymphoma). Must stay on defensive side early. I am cautiously optimistic.

Two drafts, two great first picks.
Love the Defensive mentality and the fact that we didn't pick a WR in the first round two years running.
This will be fun to watch, assuming there's a Season to watch...

I absolutely love the pick! It just made our corners better, and we can still upgrade in the next rounds!

Hopefully, the pressure that Suh and Fairley will provide up the middle will make whatever LBs and CBs we have that much better, due to the lack of time an opponent will have to develope a play.

Their needs were linebacker and defensive back, but the abilty of Fairley was too much to pass up. The strength of the D-line will make it easier for the rest of the D to improve. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the Lions draft plays out, but it is very exciting to see a noticeable improvement in this team and its talent level.

I guess the defensive line now should lead in sacks, and stopping the run. But ya still need to protect the poor QB on offense (never does with the Lions). So let's see where the next pick takes them......If they don't get a couple of top flight Offensive Linemen, ......well-help-the-poor, again this fall. Their pass defense was about the worst in the league too. So the Lions secondary will be seeing a lot of " air balls" vs. "ground balls" again, next season.

CB Ras-I Dowling will probably be gone when the Lions pick in round 2, although if he isn't, they've should grab the solid CB they passed on in round 1. If Dowling's gone, the Lions should consider taking Marcus Cannon, a mammouth LT in college, but better suited to be play C in the NFL.

Cannon's size and athleticism would give the team a formidable force in the middle of a porous Lions' O-line for years to come.

I thought we needed a CB, but let's be real, drafting Fairley just made our secondary better.
