Hard to choose between the two - loved them both.

Kris better be the winner of the whole round with his knockout punch of a song, Heartless, that took him not only to the F2 but the whole title. :)

Drat. Way too hard to choose between these two songs by Kris. I loved/love them both and listen to them frequently. I'm going to have to go with Heartless since it was such an incredibly bold move. That was the night that I feel the deal was sealed and Kris won the competition.

Choosing between "Heartless" and "Falling Slowly" is like asking me to choose which of my children I love more (just had a flashback to the movie 'Sophie’s Choice').
I admit that I wasn't familiar with the song "Falling Slowly" or the movie 'Once'. But after hearing Kris' version, I looked both up on the internet and bought Kris' iTunes version the second it came out. Any performance that can impact people like that is a true "Idol moment".
Then there was "Heartless". It silenced the judges and eliminated Danny Gokey. Need I say more.
So how do I decide?? I let my iTunes decide. "Heartless" has been played 396 times and "Falling Slowly" 370 times. I have 3 teenage daughters that LOVE Kris Allen so between the four of us, we have had these songs on replay for the last couple of years.

Michael, I love you but this is really unfair..KRIS ALLEN's Heartless & Falling Slowly are my two favourite songs ever on idol...how can I chose between them! And let me applaud you for the perfect choice of Epic Group 7..love to see KRIS-DAUGHTRY-CASTRO-M.JOHNS..in one patch..this is GROUP PERFECTION! LOL

I loved Kris' performance of Falling Slowly. I especially loved Simon's comment the next evening on the results show. "Kris, you know we didn't have a chance to talk last night. You were brilliant!"

However, by the final 3, it was obvious the judges and producers had already determined their choice for the finale. Kris knew he had to be bold - and Heartless was the result. I love the stunned look on the judges' faces when they realized their plans had been undone. I would love to know what Paula whispered to Simon when Kris finished performing. I appreciated Simon's acknowledgement that Kris was a contender in the competion. Heartless became Kris' signature song and just hearing him begin singing that song, drawing out those first few notes still gives me chills. It is interesting that Heartless is increasing in spins on the radio, even though it has never been released as a single from his album.

Hands down, Kris' take on the very popular Kanye West song "Heartless" on the gigantic Idol stage on the Top 3 (!) week was the boldest move ever made on Idol history. Pitted against judges favorite Adam Lambert (yikes!) and Danny Gokey (ok, not so much...) Kris re-invents this pop/rap song, stamps his acoustic-acapella flavor on it, makes it his own. I remember watching this LIVE and i was literally on the edge of my seat, biting my fingernails! After the performance and Kris sees the reaction from the judges' face and the audience as a whole, he gives a bit of a shy half-smile, but his eyes were saying "I nailed it and they liked it! YES!!!" To me, this performance won the Idol contest for Kris. Enough said.
