Who Should be in the Regeneration Tour 2009?

I thought Kim Wilde was the most entertaining stars of the 80s and even 90's, her colorful and electrofying videos were unforgetable. All the girls wanted to look like Kim and boys wanted to date Kim.
so My Vote is KIM WILDE all the way the rest are just followers. Too bad America never had a chance to Get to know Kim really
After all Michael Jackson asked Kim in 1988 to Tour with him on his BAD Tour.
    That says it all.

  • Simon - 3 years ago

Man, we need Yaz, A Flock of Seagulls, Duran Duran, ABC, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys and George Micheal!

  • Sergio Mattos - 3 years ago

The Human League, A Flock of Seagulls, Eurythmics, Yazoo, Kajagoogoo, After the Fire (Der kommissar), The Cars, The Cure, Pet Shop Boys, Blondie, Duran Duran....unlost!!

  • Nelson Muntz - 3 years ago

dont you think ADAM ANT should be at the top of the list??

  • regeneratethisbitch - 3 years ago

Are people serious with RICK ASTLEY? I think he is one the many appropriate acts that have faded into obscurity and will hopefully never be heard from again in ANY artistic field, since he had proven that his mission was a total failure... as far as any important work or influence goes. I certainly couldn't see ANY record company giving the 'go-ahead' for a re-issue, or dare I write it without puking, a deluxe CD edition!
The Regeneration Tour has potential but not if we're relying on the 'talent' of half ass musicians, then there's no wonder it couldn't really 'tour' anywhere other than the states..... why not throw the New Kids On The Block, WHAM! and MC Hammer on the list as well? I'm sure that would appeal to all of Rick's fans, no?
    (rolls eyes at the masses)

Just saw the performance in Palm Beach and had excellent seats in row 4. Although this date had the weakest line up i was ex ited to see Missing Persons. Unfortunately, Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons was in horrible shape and was a terrible disappointment. Naked Eyes was very good and ABC really made it all worthwhile for me. Hoping for Kim Wilde, Bananarama, OMD, Modern English and Adam Ant. I would also see ABC again and Missing Persons if they get her into rehab. Oh, Berlin!

  • securityguy70 - 3 years ago

I saw the show Wednesday in Cary, NC. I really enjoyed ABC and Belinda. Belinda gave me goose bumps, I expected that a Flock of Seagulls would have been more impressive, but I was disappointed in the new line up. It looks like the music industry is not immune to the influx of Mexican immigrants taking our jobs. Naked eyes did a good job as well, Human League were also good. I agree that Joanne's cloths didnt go well. I would really like to see Level 42, The Fixx, Peter Murphy,Thompson Twinns,Tears for Fears and A-ha.

  • GE - 3 years ago

How about Erasure?? and also Men Without Hats, Tears for Fears, Simple Minds, New Order, Electronic, Echo, The Smiths!!!!! Jesus and Mary Chain, Gene Loves Jezebel, Softcel, B52's

  • MasterSnarfer - 3 years ago

DEVO!!!!! Are we not men? (Also, I wouldn't mind seeing Billy Idol again)

  • Leela Konichiwa - 3 years ago

    Martha + The Muffins

  • repentfan - 3 years ago

Saw the show last night. I was highly anticipating Seagulls and Human League but ABC won hands down. Great show, Martin and the gang!
OMD, EATB, The Fixx would be awesome but agree than Ian probably wouldn't do an 80s revival show. They are still very relevant... listen to Siberia! A-ha is mega-huge in Europe, selling out stadiums, but it would be a great way for the band to let Statesiders hear some of their latest songs (listen to Analogue, one of the best pop tunes in the last decade). OMD had some great stuff but Andy hasn't put out an OMD disk since '95. The Regeneration tour is a great idea and I am really looking forward to next year's lineup.

  • Xthislineudie - 3 years ago

Peter Schilling, anyone? P.S. Go Men Without Hats and TEARS FOR FEARS, GOD. There are so many good names on the list, let alone all the incredible artists that aren't currently included.

  • dt - 3 years ago

Just saw the Regeneration Tour last night. Bought fifth row tickets the night of, a little disconcerting there, but the place did seem to fill up after a while. Naked eyes, or more appropriately Naked Eye sans Rob Fisher, seemed a little too heavy on the melancholy /sadness scale. Flock of Seagulls - Real tough. When they first came on stage making adjustments to the instruments, I thought they were Roadies. They looked like they walked out of a homeless shelter and or Rehab. Thankfully. things picked up considerably when ABC took the Stage, excellent performance even if Martin Fry's voice sounded a bit strained. I guess the old pipes don't quite recover after a few gigs like they did 20+ years ago. Belinda Carlisle seemed to be a bit catty with the stage hands and back-up band, but she sounded & performed great. Nice mix of Go-Go's and Single stuff. Human League, very entertaining, Synth Pop Performance art in all it's glory. Phil Oakey got his cardio in kicking a highly theatrical performance on stage. I did feel a little bad for Joanne Catherall, she was painfully too ample for those costumes, but she soldiered on workin' it to the Max. Susan Ann Sulley looked fantastic, and sang back up flawlessly. All in all good show, but take your time getting there, grab a cocktail & skip the first two acts.

  • DT - 3 years ago

How about Siouxsie & the Banshees, Romeo Void, Crowded House, Spandau Ballet, Kate Bush although the latter, will never happen.

  • Keith - 3 years ago

    Pet Shop Boys pleeeeeez!

  • Mihail - 3 years ago

Men Without Hats, true artists, best synth pop band of all times!

  • The80'sarestillbetterthanyourmoderncrap - 3 years ago

This board is just like high school. Even the Rick jokes....BTW I think whoever said YAZ should be given a gold medal.

"should have thought of that before I did you wrong"

  • VegasDJ - 3 years ago

Katie, I'm glad you agree with me, but just so you know, "Obsession" was by Animotion, not Human League. ;)

  • VegasDJ - 3 years ago

Why did I get posted twice? LOL

  • VegasDJ - 3 years ago

Hey, SimonG, my opinion reflects my taste, not yours, and when the Human League was current, I was still in Los Angeles. I should have said "four hits" but I forgot about "Human" at that moment. I never said they were bad, but I personally enjoyed Martin Fry and Belinda Carlisle more. I guess I'm sorry if that offends you.

You're right, outside of Las Vegas (nationally) they had six hits in the Top 40, but only three went higher than number 30: "Don't You Want Me", #1; "(Keep Feeling) Fascination", #8; and "Human", #1.

Also, try reading my post again. I'm not a big Rick Astley fan, so I never said anything about him.

  • smith - 4 years ago

Are you people kidding? Rick Astley had one fucking hit and that sucked!! The Furs, TFF, Gang and the Bunnymen are the only listenable bands on this list.

  • RC - 4 years ago

Why is this an ALL WHITE TOUR, Let's add some color to it:
    Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam
    Moriss Day and the Time
    Shalamar
    Jodie Watley
    Sheila E.
    Expose
    Kool and the Gang
    KC and the Sunshine Band

  • Katie - 4 years ago

I saw the show last night in SLC and I'm going to agree with DJVegas that The Human League was totally anti-climatic! They didn't even play Obession! ABC and Belinda Carlisle were both fabulous! And Naked Eyes was really good, too. Great show anyway! I can't wait to see who's in the line up for next year.

  • ballsdeep - 4 years ago

Rick rolling is lame. Take Rick Astley off the list

  • Aj - 4 years ago

What about Siouxsie or Peter Murphy?

  • SimonG - 4 years ago

Hey VegasDJ, can't agree less about Human League. They were awesome!! They also had a lot more than 3 hits outside of Vegas!!
Thomas Dolby was out playing keys for Roger Waters last year! That was one hell of a show.
Rick (with a silent 'P') Astley?? Really?? Talk about lack of talent...
    Hehe ;-)

  • VegasDJ - 4 years ago

Oh, someone did mention Adam (& the Ants) Ant and the Psych Furs. Sorry.

Sparks would be totally trippindicular awesome too! I can't believe I didn't think of them first!

  • VegasDJ - 4 years ago

    Psychedelic Furs?

  • VegasDJ - 4 years ago

    The Plimsouls?

  • VegasDJ - 4 years ago

Oh yeah, and what about New Order?

  • VegasDJ - 4 years ago

ABC (Martin Fry) was incredible on Saturday night. I went to the show just to see ABC, and I definitely got my money's worth. Belinda was great, too. My wife really loved her. Unfortunately, the Human League was somewhat ant-climactic after the others. You forget until the show that they only had three hits, and I only knew four of the songs they performed.

Anyway, I'm surprised no one has mentioned X, Adam Ant, or Thomas Dolby. Too bad Joe Strummer passed away, because the Clash would be great, too. I saw the Thompson Twins in '84, and would love to see them again. I also saw Adam Ant in '88 or '89 for the Vive Le Rock tour. He puts on a great show.

  • klm - 4 years ago

    Paul Young!

  • Katie - 4 years ago

I saw Rick Astley in concert with his first tour and I can tell you it was FAN-TASTIC!!! You won't be disappointed. One of the best concerts I've ever been to (and that's a lot). Add him in with Thompson Twins, and Tears for Fears and I'm TOTALLY SOLD!

  • Maura - 4 years ago

Kim Wilde would be awesome! You Keep Me Hangin' and Kids in America are both classic. I'd also like to see Samantha Fox, Wang Chung and another appearance by ABC, who are absolutely killer in concert.

  • Curehead - 4 years ago

    UGH!!! RICK GHASTLEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Curehead - 4 years ago

Everyone is voting for Rick Astley because of the stupid "Rick-rolled" thing thats going on. Vote for bands with talent!! I would say the Cure, Siouxsie & JAMC...but they can support a tour on their own. So, I think the Furs, Simple Minds, Public Image Ltd., Kate Bush, XTC....maybe even Adam & the Ants.

  • jonny - 4 years ago

What about Yaz!? I heard they were regrouping for a tour as I write this!

  • SHL - 4 years ago

The us needs Rick. Come on man it's been 20yrs. I can hear his sulrty voice right now. All you ppl should go to Utube for his veds. Dam the man sounds as good as he ever did back in the day. IMHO Rick's voice is sexier then ever.

  • bob - 4 years ago

    Definitely Rick Astley!

  • Sister Pain - 4 years ago

Do not demean the name or talent of Echo and The Bunnymen with this poll.

They will never LUMP themselves in a nostalgia tour.

They are still a very current and legit band. Go Buy Siberia!

Echo would rather play a beer and piss soaked bar in the South than group themselves with the likes of Dead or Alive....

  • Jim - 4 years ago

I would Love to see Kim Wilde in USA -It will be such a rare appearance
I love You Keep Me Hangin on, Cambodia, You Came and of course the KIDS IN AMERICA does it Ring a BELL AMERICA???
    Thank u

  • DJ Wave - 4 years ago

OK someone is flooding the poll...I like Rick...but come on!!

  • Industrialanus - 4 years ago

Thompson Twins, Spandau Ballet, Ultravox, Howard Jones, OMD and Gary Numan.

    Ouch, that would be killer!

Now how in h*ll did Rick Astley and EATB get so many votes. Find the chads, that's bogus.

  • 80s_phreak - 4 years ago

Rick Astley?? Come on people. There are far more interesting (musically speaking) choices on the list.

  • Anon - 4 years ago

Howard Jones (PHENOMENAL live!), Thompson Twins, OMD, The FIXX (AMAZING live too), and Tears For Fears would be my DREAM concert for 2009! Forget Rick-every single one of his songs sound the same. Echo & The Bunnymen would be cool to see, as would Men At Work.

  • Bozo - 4 years ago

    OMD!!!!!!!!!! They must be included!

WHERE'S CULTURE CLUB?? They haven't toured together in about 6 years, so they're due for a bit of a comeback...Any chance you could convince George and the boys to patch up their differences for a US tour? (there was all that silliness a couple years back where they tried to get a new lead singer...)
Get Culture Club, throw in a couple of decent support bands, and I guarantee you Regeneration Tour 2009 will be a complete sell-out!!

  • gaseoushead - 4 years ago

I would love to see two things. First, I would love to see the Thompson Twins in concert, again. Secondly, I would love to see a tour date in Toronto, Canada.

  • Jimbo - 4 years ago

    FUCK YEAH RICK ASTLEY

  • Melissa - 4 years ago

    Level 42 is a must!!!

  • Ed - 4 years ago

If you haven't seen Howard Jones perform lately, you're missing out! He's a headliner still. A-Ha, Go West are great ideas and should be added to the poll! Tears for Fears, yes. And Oingo Boingo!?!? Awesome! But would Elfman show up?
And, my wife would actually go with me if Rick Springfield were to show up. I'm just sayin'!

  • Louie - 4 years ago

Kim Wilde - catch a look at her on you tube in 'Perfect Girl' video....she looks great!! Level 42 would be great to see.......The Bangles (though I hope some day they tour with the GoGos) and yeah, Rick Astley would all be great to see in the 2009 tour....But Kim by far is the tops on my list!! Still a Hottie!!

  • Pat - 4 years ago

DEFINITELY Level 42 if you can get them PLEASE.

  • Obviously we've been rickrolled! He went from a couple hundred votes to well over 2000 in a matter of days... good one guys! At least it brought us a bit of publcity from the L.A. Times:
