    Ashley,
I feel that your blog is well written for someone like myself, ( straight woman having had no
first hand experience knowing someone whose been through what you have been). When I went to college I had friends whom were gay, I really didn't know any lesbians~ it was 1973 thru 1977. I do now have friends whom are a lesbian couple and they have 3 children, they are all the most wonderful family! They did have some services and clubs for "them" on campus. My feelings about "them" was it didn't matter to me what people did in the privacy of their bedrooms, and I still am that way. Please excuse my use of "them" as a description as I mean no disrespect. But I feel that you are educating me, and as we are never to old to learn, I want to thank you. I really didn't know much about gender transitions or even about how someone who feels that way must go through. I know u are aware that I used to be friends with the family when you were younger, and I really have not had any correspondence from your parents since you moved. I have sent Xmas cards etc. and tried, but for whatever reasons , they may have , they never wrote back. I hope they are well, and that someday they give you the respect you deserve to have made this decision on behalf of your well being. I know this cannot be easy for them, but in life we all need to learn tolerance. No matter what you are their child.
    Warm Regards,
    Dee
