    I completely agree with Cheryl and couldn't have said it better myself........I also think if the judges weren't so power hungry they could be a part of the solution instead of contributing to the problem.....

    I think that minimum to medium non-violent offenders, should not spend three to five years on a prison sentence. With the economy being so bad, people need two incomes in a house hold. With your loved one being in jail, people are losing their homes and can't feed their children. So if its a non-violent crime I think they should be released under house arrest, and being limited to certain places such as: work, food store, or schooling. Also if they were arrested under a drug related problem he/she should be court orders to serve out, out patient programs two to three times a week. Therefore the prison system will not be over crowded, finantaly unstable and their loved ones could still afford their homes and to feed their children. Drug addicts need to learn how to live in the outside world. Being locked up for years and losing everything will only cause them to get out and repeat their same actions as before. Instead of sitting in jail/prison doing absolutely nothing and wasting the prisons money when that money can be used for a lot more dangerous and unstable criminals. -Cheryl.
