I do not see her comment as being a death threat, she did not say SHE was GOING to kill her math teacher or anything of that nature. Calling a child an IDIOT, is pretty inappropriate as well. When reading stories such as this, think back to when you were 13 and a subject you found to be difficult or challenging. I believe as a child we all have thought something to this extream. Maybe it was wring to say but after all she did post it on HER facebook in HER home. How many times have we as adults posted our frustrations on FB or some other social network? I do not believe its necessary to judge this little girl so harshly, I do believe however her right to freedom of speech was NOT protected. Its crazy how this day and age a person cant say what they feel without being punished for it. Humm, so much for america, huh?

The only thing O.B.L. is killing is the fish choking on his bones or colostomy bag.
so there was no threat? DOESN'T THE SCHOOL WATCH CNN, HLN, ETC..
Pray for Country, Glenn, and now THE FISH!!

Wishing someone dead on your own face book post is not the same as contacting someone and threatening them,,,and JC she is 13 years old,,,she new what she did was wrong, removed it and should apologize to the Teacher and that should have been the end of it,,,,The school and Government Employees can stay the Hell out of disciplining our children when they do things in our private homes,,,the parents should be the only ones with that authority! The friends Mom that turned her in is a busy body and should mind her own!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wishing someone to be dead is hardly what can be considered a" threat". Unfortunately kids now write on facebook for the whole world to see instead of a private diary. I don't see where the school has any right to suspend her for her thoughts

Death threat implies you are threatening. This is not a death threat! I hope someone kills someone else is just wishful thinking, not a threat to take someone's life. Stupid for saying death threats have consequences when there wasn't one.

Look the first amendment protects gives everyone the right to say what they want but it does not protect them from the consequences of what they say such as a death threat. I think 5 days is to steep a punishment but people forget that they are responsible for thier actions.

Considering the fact that OBL is dead I would hardly classify this as a death threat. It is the wishful imaginings of a 13 year old kid who doesn't like math class. There is nothing shocking or offensive about that unless you are a VERY thin skinned math teacher. My wife teaches HS math and I am certain some of her students have had childish imaginings about a world without her or her class. Be a grownup and get over it.

The poll should provide a 3rd option. Yes, making a death threat has consequences. The school however should not be monitoring coversations off campus.

She's a 13 year old idiot. This is what they get for documneting all their conversations through F/B. If she was speaking with friends and it was blurted out one thing but this was meant to let her world share this feeling. Ruling 5 day suspension.
