Should Florida make teenagers wait longer to drive?

I graduated from high school 6 months before my 18 th birthday. I worked in a factory on night shift to get money for college in the fall. I was arrested for driving home from work because until I turned 18 my license expired at 11pm. This was outrageous! I was old enough to be drafted and fight in Vietnam yet I could not drive home from work.

My daughter also graduated 5 months before her 18th birthday.

Not everyone is 18 when they graduate from High School.

There are full grown adults driving in this state who should have to go to driving school. Mothers distracted by kids, guys in commercial vehicles driving in the left hand lane at 80 while talking on the phone, cars jumping three lanes to make an exit etc. Just south of us is one of the busiest sections of road in entire US, to put a 16 on that highway is asking for trouble. Many teenagers have jobs or other activities they need to get to and from and not allowing them to drive will cripple them not only in driving experience but all the other activities that the freedom of driving allows. Teens should be allowed to drive at 16 but it should be highly restricted, only during daylight and only other lic drivers in the car. After that allow a little more freedom each 6 mos until 18. If you are given any points you must complete driving school before you can get your lic back and you start all over with the restrictions. To ask teens to wait until 18 would only cripple what made this country great....freedom of movement if you can do it without being a danger to others or yourself

Most accidents happen because the driver takes their eyes off the road. Minors should sign a waver when getting their license. If the use there cell phone or text while the Carr is moving the license get revoked till age 18.

No I believe they should have more time behind the wheel before they get their license, make it mandatory for 2 years and then let them get their license at 18. Reasons why is because if you stop them from driving until they're 18, they'll just get behind the wheel... Just from experience when I was forced to wait till 18, by my parents decision, that upset me that all my friends had cars and I didnt.... I resented them and let's just say the situation made me reckless and careless behind the wheel... Not to mention angry... So to avoid that... Just make the process longer... More testing... Etc I'm 23 now and still I don't learn my lesson... But I admit that I'm wrong when I get behind the wheel.
