Bottom line, as long as they hold dear to their incredible friendship it really doesn't matter, does it?
Scotty and Lauren could record and perform partime as independent artists and the other partime as a duet (man and woman) sensation. The following duets have certainly "topped" the Billboard Charts and have globally sold out the concert stadiums such husband and wife team of Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood, and Tim McGraw & Faith Hill, as well as, others such as Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers and Loretta Lynn & Conway Twitty who were not married.
One thing for sure, it's great for everyone, to include the artists, when great male and female artists team up, who have tons of chemistry together, and can absolutely top the Billboard Charts and at the same time perform with great amounts of charisma.
Scotty and Lauren already share a great friendship, so my prayer is that they will sometimes create wonderful recording projects together, and at the least let us hear them live. Now that is something we could all "really" hope for, we'd all have a blast, and share in their joy!
