You didn't mention also - the many people whose skin is irritated by wool...so quilting with wool batting is an itchy horrible experience for them. I make quilts for kids in hospital - and because so many of them have sensitive skins, and the quilts need to be regularly machine washed and dried, I use cotton/poly batting for every quilt :-)
