Will you use the My Plate approach when making your kids' meals?

I use a similar method already, but with my 2 girls, one plate has more meat and less grain, and the other looks like this. not all food groups at every meal, but we make up the others at snack times.

I agree with Elisa, getting children, especially ones under 10 to eat all food groups at one meal is not an easy task. I think the new version is just that, a newer version. Most people have a good sense already about what we need to eat, but the how is STILL the problem regardless what the new pyramid looks like.

"Parents don't have time to measure?" Wow! Parents who care about what their children eat already know what is good for them. A new picture that cost millions is not going to help fight obesity. You will still have those parents who take their kids to fast food joints several times a week! I am glad she is trying to do something, especially with school lunch programs, but I disagree that this new design was worth the money!

I feel that the "My Plate" approach is easier to understand. Do I feel like I can incorporate all five groups in one meal? Probably not. But this visual give me a much better idea of what I'm aiming for than the traditional pyramid of the past. Thank you Michelle Obama for both taking an interests and acting on it!
