Who should replace Laurence Fishburne?

My first choice would be William Petersen. He is, and always will be, perfect for the role of the leader of the team.
Second choice would be William Devane. He was terrific on Knots Landing, and he did sa FANTASTIC job playing the President of our Country in 24 Live Another Day! He is excellent in anything I have ever seen him in! He is powerful and commanding, but not full of himself. He can be serious, but can also add a sense of humor to the show. Third choice be George Eads! His character, Nick Stokes, has worked to get where he is! He deserves the promotion if they hIre "from within the Department"!!

George Eads character has worked his way through the ranks. It always made me mad that the Dr. Ray character bought his way to a CSI level 3 when all the other characters including Greg had to work their way through cases to get there. That was the "jumping the shark" moment for me. I vote for George Eads to be the top bill and get another T.V. series actor to be a new hire. I read someone suggested Robin Williams, I agree, his serious characters are top notch and could boost the viewership to what it once was!

I think Miguel Ferrer has the right mix of gruffness and forensics knowledge from his stint on Crossing Jordan to take LF's place.

    1) Awesome but totally unrealistic: Denzel Washington. He could just play the same character he has played in two dozen movies.

    2) Idiotic, Ludicrous but potentially plausible: Charlie Sheen. CBS never really wanted to lose him... and this way he stays on the network but does not have to work with that troll, Chuke Lorre.

    3) Maybe? Jack Coleman. I am sure they won't be needing him much... or much longer anyway, on The Office.

    4) Unlikely and risky: Tom Welling. Look, Smallville is over. his film career never took off and I don't think ever will. He is executive producer of a WB show right now... but that might not prove a huge conflict... I would not use him to take over the "leader" role though. But he could be a good addition to the cast, and it gives Welling a chance to round out his acting craft, as was always his goal.

    5) Why did I even suggest this? BECAUSE IT WOULD BE AWESOME! Robin Williams. When this guy plays a serious role, he knocks it out of the park (The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting, Insomniac). His movie roles of late are far and few between and generally terrible. He is 60 years old and might not be able to handle the pace of a tv a show (especially an hour long drama), BUT he could do it. I imagine him being introduced as a weary veteran tackling one last post before retirement. Maybe doing the Vegas gig interim until they can settle on a successor, but being drawn in by a personal tragedy, that does not resolve until the season ends (or even runs into next season) which causes him to stay on longer term (or at least a couple of seasons). The idea sends shivers down my spine. Won't ever happen though.

    6) I WISH! William Peterson. bring him back! DO IT. This show is not the same. It's lime Criminal Minds with Mandy Patinkin, a shadow of it's former self.

There will never be anyone who can replace Grissom ... The show jumped the shark since they brought Sarah back .... Grissom should have married Lady Heather in my opinion. I used to buy the season DVD's until you guessed it ... Grissom left ... (Orginal) CSI was the best Crime Show on the air ... the other CSI's didn't have it ... I really like Mr. Fishburne but the character never really fit for me... Turn Nick and Greg loose before it bottoms out, hopefully it is not to late and if Grissom doesn't come back, for gosh sake send Sarah home to him (poor guy)...
Looking forward to seeing Mr. Fishburne back on the big screen ...
That's my two cents worth for what that will get me.... :- )

I think some true contenders would be:
Michael O'Neill – Although we may remember him briefly with a gun in his hand on a shooting rampage (Grey’s Anatomy) we can’t forget the passion he had while doing it. Which is honestly the reason I love(d) William Petersen.
Timothy Olyphant – One word…YUMMY! And more than that, he does have this rugged bad boy thing going on which just makes me think cop. “The Perfect Getaway!” Brilliant!
J.K. Simmons – While you may be thinking “Spiderman” now, in a few weeks you will just be upset you didn’t think of it first.
Carrie-Anne Moss – Yes the girl from the “Matrix.” She has just this look to her that makes me think not only would she look awesome with a gun, but she seems like she could solve some crimes and kick some @$$ doing it!
And last but not least (MY FAVORITE) Alexandra Daddario – I Love her in White Collar. She seems to make weird chemistry with everyone on set. She wouldn’t necessarily need to be the LEAD dog, but I think she would be a great fit.

All I ask is to please not do another David Caruso. I just don’t think I can handle another actor on a CSI series that takes off his glasses and looks off into the distance. If it happens I may forever be done with CSI! If you are really looking at were to go, CSI New York is a perfect example of what good casting can do. Sela Ward! She is wonderful and makes me want to watch.

If Laurence Fishburne does leave I will miss him. He added something to the show that was edgy and suspenseful that I think the show has been missing. Although, he did kill a man, he is still one of my favorites! PS. Thumbs up to the Wednesday move…love that idea.
