I would be disgusted to look at her on the field on anywhere else.

When you audition for a play, you may not get a part. When you try out for a sports team, you may get cut. If you don't make the grade, you don't get into the Honor Society.

Many people try and many people don't make the team. She has to be held to the same standards as everyone else or else it wouldn't be fair to those who didn't make it.

Even people with disabilities that I know say that they don't want to have special privileges that apply to only them, or to get something they didn't earn, but they only want to be considered on equal terms with everyone else. So this girl tried out and was given the same opportunity as everyone else but she didn't make the team.

Who are we to tell her what she should be allowed to try and not try. The activity is not a state sanctioned sport/activity, so it is the completely on the school. If she has the will and the desire, there is a way for her to be involved.
How can you say: explore, try new things, do you best; and at the same time say: but if you have no arms don't try cheering or surfing (BTW: check this out:

    Enough said.

I really can't stand the ACLU. She can't do what every other girl has to do in order to try out and make the squad, so no, they should not be forced to make accommodations. However, there is no reason they can't do like the person in the first comment said and let her be a pep leader. That's what we do at the school where I teach and we have a girl in a wheelchair who wants to be involved. She has a great time and feels like she's a part of the team even though she can't do what they do during the games.

I don't mind that she be allowed to get special accommodations so she can try and take part, however I think her parents should pay for them.

I think she can not perform in tandem or do the basic functions . She can be apart in some other way PEP rally leader. She could wear the cheer leader outfit, but lead the crowd in cheers with a mega phone . They should try to make her apart in some way. but abviousley she is not going to shake pom poms kick her legs or do cartwheels and jump. This should be a people to people matter and NO ACLU involved.
