The Democratic government's efforts so far have been an absolute disgrace. Trillions of Dollars given outright to foreign national banks and domestic banks and financial companies so their feelings and bonuses and bottom lines wouldn't be hurt. To what effect? The only thing which will get the economy going again is for us to turn our backs on these clowns, let them fail, and pick ourselves up by our own bootstraps (yes, re-boot), and start all over again. All these clowns had the opportunity to work hard for their money in the past and they failed. Their bought-and-paid-for "friends" in Washington paid them off and let them off. Now it falls to us to work hard for the rest of our lives to save ourselves and our country.

What saved the economy from the Great Depression was not government "workfare" programs, but World War II - truly massive expenditures spread throughout the economy, they had a real purpose, and got the job done. And everybody was taxed for the privilege of experience. Not advocating another world war here (though if we're not careful, we may get us one anyway. The world is getting to be a scary place.), but there are better ways of spending government money than pouring it into limited numbers of sectors. In the absence of such a war, the best thing for the government to do at this point is get out of the way. If there are people whose needs must be met, it is up to US to take care of that. Tell the government to go home.
